"The poetic narrator of Sourdough Bread is baking more than sharp, crusty artisan leaven bread that exclaims, bon appetite. The traditional homemade practice of sour fermented dough used as leaven to make bread is only the beginning of culinary passion. The reader has an array of discomforting themes circumscribed with some familiar textured crust sandwiched between memories of wartime betrayals, protestations of rare innocence, and lucid reflections.
